HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has said that no one can save Telangana if the Congress comes to power in the State. Speaking at a public meeting in Ibrahimpatnam on Tuesday, KCR criticised the Congress leaders and elaborated on the situation of Telangana during its formative years. He said that many farmers and weavers had died before the formation of Telangana.

"We brainstormed for a couple of months and finally came up with many developmental schemes in the State," he said.

The Chief Minister said how he increased the pension to Rs 1,000 and added, "During the TDP's reign, the pension was at around Rs 70 and the Congress Government increased to Rs 200. After Telangana's formation, I asked a few IAS officers on why should we give pensions to people? Is it for fun or to help needy people? Then the leaders and officers concluded that it will be better to give pension of Rs 600 or Rs 700. But I finally asked them to fix it at Rs 1,000. The BRS is the only Government in the country that has increased pensions to thousands of rupees."

"Earlier, the per capita power utilisation in Telangana was 1,100 units and today it increased to 2,200 units. Telangana is the only State in the country that is giving free electricity for farmers 24x7," said KCR.

Hitting out at the Congress leaders for filing false cases on the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRILS), KCR said, "Ranga Reddy, Maheshwaram and few other areas should get Krishna water but the Congress Government had stopped the PRILS. But I fought for it and today all the cases have been cleared."

KCR also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had asked farmers to install motors for agricultural lands. He also questioned why the Central Government didn't sanction a single medical college or Navodaya School for Telangana and asked the BJP leaders on what agenda they were asking for votes from the public.

"The fate of Ibrahimpatnam is going to change in a very short span of time. Foxconn industry is going to set up in Ibrahimpatnam which will provide nearly 1 lakh employment opportunities to the youth," said the BRS president.
