The party president along with other party leaders had attempted to lay siege to the collectorate in support of the farmers’ agitation against the alleged Telangana government’s move to convert farmland into an industrial zone. Reportedly, the party activists had destroyed a government vehicle and barricades causing a law-and-order problem.

The scuffle between the BJP leaders and police led to the arrest of the BJP state president. The police filed a case against the party president, former MLA Ravinder Reddy and 12 others for holding agitations without permissions and causing damage to public property. Cases under 11 sections were registered at Kamareddy Devarapalli police station.
