HYDERABAD: Preparations are afoot for a special puja to Varahi, the campaign chariot of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, on January 2, 2023. The puja for the much-touted poll vehicle will be performed at the famous Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Kondagattu, located in Jagtial district of Telangana.

The Jana Sena has earlier announced that their actor-turned-leader would embark on a yatra across the length and breadth of Andhra Pradesh only after worshipping at the Kondagattu temple. Named after the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, Varahi has already generated enough buzz and some unwarranted controversy since the time it was unveiled to the public.

The poll chariot, on whose top Pawan Kalyan will be screaming his lungs out during his tour of the state, boasts of several ultra-modern features. But more than its features, Varahi came under the scrutiny of netizens and political opponents on its outer colour and the place of its registration.

A mere apprehension that Pawan Kalyan was using Olive Green as the colour of his vehicle brewed into a mini-storm a few days back. The actor's detractors, mainly the YSRCP leaders, hastily criticised the Jana Sena chief, only to eat a humble pie later when it was revealed that the colour used for the vehicle was Emerald Green, which is not classified as a military shade.

Unrelenting, the YSRCP also slammed Pawan Kalyan for planning to ride on a vehicle that he does not own. Enquiries revealed that the vehicle was registered in the name of Tothehands Trading Private Limited, a company promoted by Uday Srinivas Tangella, the founder of Hyderabad-based Tea Time.

The vehicle had its first registration in Andhra Pradesh before it was registered afresh in Hyderabad following its customisation. It also came to the fore that Uday Srinivas Tangella reportedly sponsored the vehicle with an eye on a Jana Sena ticket for an Assembly constituency in the Godavari districts during the next elections.
