NIZAMABAD: With the irrigation officials getting ready to lift gates of Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) and Nizam Sagar projects anytime to release water down the stream, State Roads and Buildings Minister Prashanth Reddy cautioned the people in the command areas of the projects to be vigilant.
He reviewed the situation in all the assembly constituencies of the district along with District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu on Thursday as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
The Minister advised the district administration to speed up the evacuation of 400 families that live adjacent to Nizam Sagar canal in Nizamabad. He said that people living on either side of the Pulang stream must also be shifted to safer places.
He directed the district authorities to clear stagnant water on Nizamabad-Armoor road and also in Bodhan town.
The Minister directed the officials to restrict fishermen from venturing into water bodies particularly in the backwaters of SRSP because of the heavy inflows from projects in upper reaches particularly Maharashtra. A control room was established at the District Collectorate to coordinate and streamline relief and rescue operations across the district
