In Andhra Pradesh, the ongoing surface circulation continues over the northwest Bay of Bengal. A monsoon trough formed in the same area. In the next few hours, there was a possibility that the circulation would strengthen as a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. Another cycle was ongoing in the South Chhattisgarh region. “The Southwest Monsoon has become active. The intensity of gales increased along the coast. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea for the next five days,” the APSDMA said.

Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre director Sunanda said that due to the influence of the monsoon trough, there would be widespread rains in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “Telangana is receiving heavy rains due to the influence of monsoons along the coasts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha. The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal is likely to strengthen in a few hours. It will have a high impact on the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh with light to moderate and heavy rains in the region,” Sunanda said.

Heavy rains would be recorded in agency and hilly terrain areas. People staying adjacent to the river banks in the State were advised to be alert due to floods. “The south coast of Rayalaseema district will also receive heavy rains. Strong gusty winds will blow along the coast and the sea will become turbulent due to low pressure conditions in the Bay of Bengal,” Sunanda said.
