HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy has called upon IT Minister K T Rama Rao to withdraw the legal notice served on the former. Else, he warned he would have to take “appropriate civil or criminal proceedings against the minister. He claimed that he had not given any defamatory statement against KTR.

The “tactics adopted” by KTR have a “chilling effect on free speech, dynamism and dialectics of political democracy.”

In a response to Sudhanshu Rao Enuganti, advocate of KTR, Revanth Reddy’s advocate Kumar Vaibhav said on Saturday: “It is stated that your client's professional qualifications and achievements does (sic) not lend him impunity (sic) from being questioned and critiqued (sic) by the political opposition and the public especially when it is evident that the entire investigation is being funneled in a certain direction at the cost of public interest and faith.

“In view of the above, it is stated that the allegations made by your client are baseless, malicious and politically motivated in order to extort, harass and silence my client. It is reiterated that our client has not made any defamatory statement against your client on the alleged dates.

“It is clear that your client being the face of the ruling party wants to make an example out of my client so as to stifle political opposition and public accountability at large. The tactics adopted by your client have a chilling effect on free speech, dynamism and dialectics of political democracy.

“Accordingly, we call upon you to withdraw the legal Notice dated 28.03.2023 issued to my client with immediate effect. Failing which, my client will be compelled to initiate appropriate civil and criminal proceedings against your client solely at the costs, risks and consequences of your client.”

Revanth Reddy’s lawyer listed out all the circumstances leading to the legal notice by KTR from the Congress standpoint and then demanded withdrawal of the legal notice.
