HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief A Revanth Reddy paying rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary in Hyderabad called him the pioneer of information technology in the country.

“He is the reason for the IT and telecom revolution in the country. He encouraged youth by according them voting rights at 18 years of age,” Revanth recalled. Enlisting other decisions taken by Rajiv Gandhi during his tenure, Revanth Reddy said that the former PM provided reservations for women, and strengthened the Gram Panchayats.

“He was young when he took the reins of the country and stood as a role model for the youth. The Gandhi family made several sacrifices for the country, unlike the BJP that divides people to achieve its political ends,” Revanth said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not even reach out to the people of Manipur when it was burning, he said adding that there was not much difference between the BJP and the BRS. “It is a fevicol bond, while the BJP steals and gives it to its friends, here in Telangana one particular family is benefitted,” Revanth said. He called upon people to defeat both parties to save the nation and the State.
