Revanth Reddy, Sridhar Babu to pitch to 70 industry leaders in Davos for investment in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu will be participating in the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, from January 15-19, 2024. They will leaving on Sunday.

WEF is a premier platform where government leaders, industry captains, social entrepreneurs, and newsmakers meet annually to address global issues and shape agendas for government, industry, and societal action. Over 3,000 delegates, including representatives from 100 governments, top 1,000 global companies, and leading international organisations, NGOs, and media, attend this invite-only event.

This is the first time a Telangana Chief Minister would lead an official delegation to WEF since the State's formation. The delegation includes Principal Secretary (IT and Industries) and Principal Secretary to Revanth Reddy.

The team has planned a packed schedule, with the Chief Minister and Minister meeting over 70 industry leaders, including CEOs and CXOs of top companies like Novartis, Medtronic, AstraZeneca, Google, Uber, Mastercard, Bayer, LDC, and UPL.

Interactions with Indian industry captains from Tata, Wipro, HCL Tech, JSW, Godrej, Airtel, Bajaj, and others are also planned, along with meetings with leading business chambers like CII and NASSCOM as well as media networks.

The aim is to sign MOUs and close significant investment deals in pharma, electronics, data centers, defense & aerospace, food processing, and renewable energy.

Davos will be the platform to showcase Telangana's strengths as a leading IT and Life Sciences hub and attract investments.

Meanwhile Revanth Reddy has been invited to speak at the WEF Congress Centre and would share his views on transforming healthcare digitally, a key priority for his Government.

He will also attend a high-level WEF event on "Food Systems and Local Action" to discuss the impact of climate change on agriculture and initiatives for climate-resilient agriculture while protecting farmers' livelihoods.

IT Minister Sridhar Babu would participate in a panel discussion on "Developing Skills for AI" and meet with tech companies, trade organisations, and NRI entrepreneurs.

Telangana has a strong institutional engagement with WEF, with Hyderabad being the only city in India to host WEF's Centre for 4th Industrial Revolution (C4IR) for the healthcare and life sciences sector. WEF also supports tech initiatives in the agriculture and food processing sectors.

The participation in WEF marks a significant opportunity for Telangana to showcase its potential, attract investments, and engage with global leaders on critical issues. The planned interactions and speaking engagements provide platforms for the state to share its vision and priorities, paving the way for future collaborations and advancements.
