HYDERABAD: Director Ram Gopal Varma has condemned Minister Konda Surekha's comments on Tollywood actress Samantha and the Akkineni family.

Reacting to the controversy surrounding the minister's remarks, RGV took to social media to express his disapproval, questioning the need for the apology and highlighting the offensive nature of the original statements.

RGV noted that Surekha’s comments towards Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, and Samantha were deeply derogatory. He criticised the minister for dragging the Akkineni family into her political disagreements, stating that her words were shocking and unacceptable. He questioned whether Surekha understood the implications of using such offensive language towards the Akkineni family in the context of criticising BRS leader K Taraka Rama Rao.

He also pointed out that Surekha seemed to be responding to an unrelated issue involving Raghunandan Rao, yet chose to target the Akkineni family. RGV condemned the minister's baseless accusations, describing them as inappropriate for someone of her position. He urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to intervene and issue a strong warning to prevent similar incidents in the future, demanding respect for the family and the industry.
