A house owner near here received the shock of his life when he was served with a monthly electricity bill of a whopping Rs 1.17 lakhs on Wednesday
SHADNAGAR: A house owner near here received the shock of his life when he was served with a monthly electricity bill of a whopping Rs 1.17 lakhs on Wednesday. The consumer received the bill for a total of Rs Rs 1,17,694 for his house at Chatanpalli of Shadnagar mandal in Ranga Reddy district.
According to information, the electricity department replaced the meter at the victim's house on August 16. The replacement was necessitated based on a complaint by the house owner who claimed that the old meter was burnt.
Everything looked fine until he received the new monthly bill. The electricity department served him with a bill for 22 days covering the duration between August 16 and September 7. The house owner was dumbstruck after seeing the bill of Rs. 1,17,694. The bill showed that a total of 10,710 units of power were utilised on his service number.
The house owner escalated the issue to the officials of the electricity department who attributed it to a technical issue.
