HYDERABAD: The sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted raids on the offices and residences of the Kamineni group of companies and medical colleges belonging to several prominent persons in the vicinity of Hyderabad.

The ED officers split into 15 different teams accompanied by central forces and conducted the searches simultaneously in Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences at Suraram, SVS Medical College at Yenugonda, MNR Medical College at Sangareddy, MediCiti Institute of Medical Sciences at Shamirpet, Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences, Karimnagar, Patnam Mahender Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Chevella and Deccan College of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad.

The raids also took place at the residences of K Suryanarayana Rao, the chairman, and Sridhar, the managing director of the Kamineni group.

According to reports ED also conducted searches at the Prathima corporate office located in Film Nagar. The ED was looking into the alleged financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 12,000 crore committed by the private medical colleges, particularly in the sale of medical seats.

The morning time raids of the ED have stirred up a commotion in Hyderabad as the city has recently witnessed a series of raids on Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) functionaries.
