HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and former minister Kunduru Jana Reddy was admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda here after he suffered a heart attack early Wednesday. His family members rushed him to the hospital after he complained of severe chest pain in the wee hours.

The doctors at Yashoda Hospital, after performing an angiogram test, found a block in his heart and consequently placed a stent to ensure normal blood supply. The veteran politician has been kept under observation in the ICU and his condition is stated to be stable. Jana Reddy, aged 76, has reportedly been suffering from multiple ailments including age-related complications.

The senior leader is stated to be in the race for a key position in the Congress Working Committee, the highest decision-making group of the grand-old party. Congress party activists and his followers in his native Nalgonda district and outside are praying for his speedy recovery.
