Siricilla Collector orders suspension of PET Jyotsna after harassment allegations

HYDERABAD: Rajanna Siricilla District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha ordered the suspension of Jyotsna, the Physical Education Teacher (PET) at the Tangallapalli Tribal Welfare Gurukul School, following serious harassment allegations made by students. The collector also instructed that an FIR be registered against her.

The incident came to light when students accused Jyotsna of harassing them, particularly during their monthly periods. According to the students, while they were bathing in the bathroom, Jyotsna questioned them for taking longer and allegedly broke down the door, recording videos on her mobile phone. The students protested, demanding justice and Jyotsna’s immediate suspension.

The situation led to a massive protest, with students from the Gurukula school taking to the streets. They expressed deep frustration over the inadequate facilities, highlighting that more than 500 students were forced to share only two bathrooms. Several students showed visible bruises, claiming Jyotsna beat them, and tearfully appealed for action.

Following the protests, the Siricilla District administration suspended Jyotsna and ordered an investigation into the allegations.
