Telangana elections 2023: 2,290 candidates in fray, 59,779 Ballot Units to be used

HYDERABAD: With the General Elections to the Telangana Legislative Assembly fast approaching, the Election Commission, based on the list of contestants in each of the constituencies, ordered 59,779 Ballot Units (BUs) to be used on the day of polling on November 30 in which 2,290 candidates will be testing their fortune.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the ECI, based on additional BU requirements, a final additional count of 14,500 BUs, was allocated to 16 districts as per the requirement.
After the first level check (FLC), the randomisation and the allocation to the constituencies, and polling stations would be done. A total of 59,779 Ballot Units will be used in this election in 36,655 polling stations covering 2,290 candidates.
The list of 118 constituency-wise counting centres was also finalised for all 33 districts, including that of Hyderabad and its neighbouring districts. All necessary arrangements including that of security were made.
In addition, to reduce the anxiety of the voters about their allotted polling stations, particularly for the new voters, all the ground-level teams would be in action from Monday and they would knock on every door to hand over Voter Information Slips (VIS) in a big way.
