Telangana Farmers demand filling of Medigadda, Annaram, Sundilla barrages as crops are wilting

HYDERABAD: Farmers of Mahabubabad district appealed urged the state government not to cause hardship to them citing the sagging of just three pillars of Medigadda barrage as a reason.

They said after the advent of Kaleshwaram project water problems faded away. Telangana shone with bountiful of crops and and abundant water. Now again, the water woes began. They urged the government to act swiftly and get repairs done for the barrage and release water to farm fields. They appealed to the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister to fill the reservoirs of Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla and make sure that the groundwater table did not deplete. Already, agricultural operations were suffering for want of water in borewells.

They appealed to the government not to view the issue from a political frame of reference. They appealed that the government should have the repairs effected at the earliest and restore the lift irrigation process

They lamented that the Congress Government was showing apathy towards the farmers and delaying the repairs causing huge crop loss and thereby financial loss to farmers.

Farmers at Suryapet Collectorate protested demanding water release into Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP). They strongly criticised the Congress Government for letting the crops wilt. The police prevented them from carrying pesticide tins.
