HYDERABAD: Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao has presented a whopping Rs.2,90,396 crore budget for the financial year 2023-24. Hearteningly, it also turned out to be a tax free, people-friendly budget with an eye on the elections slated for this year.

The Finance Minister, who had earlier in the day offered prayers at Sri Venkateswara Swami temple in Jubilee Hills, said that the budget was balanced well between development and welfare schemes.

While Agriculture and Irrigation got Rs. 25,800 crore each, the Finance Minster allocated a capital expenditure of Rs.10,000 crore to Irrigation.


Hyderabad Metro Rail got an allocation of Rs.1,500 crore while Rs. 500 crore was given exclusively to Hyderabad Metro AirPort Express and another Rs.500 crore for connecting the Old City of Hyderabad with metro rail.

Highlights of allocations in Telangana Budget 2023-24:

 Agriculture and irrigation received Rs 25,800 crores each

♦ Panchayat Raj and Roads and Buildings got Rs 31,426 crores and Rs 22,260 crores respectively

♦ The budgetary allocation for Municipal Administration Department is Rs 11,372 crores

♦ Energy Department was allocated Rs 12,727 crores

♦ Dalit Bandhu received Rs 17,700 crores while Rythu Bandhu got Rs 15,075 crores

♦ Rythu Beema was given Rs 1,589 crores even as Rs 6,385 crores were allocated towards farm loan waiver scheme

♦ The budget proposed an expenditure of Rs 12,000 crores towards power subsidy

♦ Spending for Asara Pensions in 2023-24 will be Rs 12,000 crores

♦ The State Government will expend Rs 443 crores for KCR kit

♦ The allocation for Kalyana Lakshmi Shaadi Mubarak is Rs 3,210 crores

♦ AarogyaSri has been allocated Rs 1,463 crores

♦ Rs 10,014 crores will be spent towards Irrigation Capex

♦ Rs 500 crores each have been allocated for Hyderabad Airport Metro and Metro Rail extension project up to Old City

♦ Hyderabad Metro Rail alone received Rs 1,500 crores in the budget
