HYDERABAD: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has directed the State Chief Secretary, DGP, and TSPSC to provide a comprehensive report on the tragic suicide of a student Pravalika within the next 48 hours. She also appealed to students not to lose hope during this distressing time. The Governor expressed her condolences to Pravalika's family on Saturday.

Pravalika, who was receiving Group-2 coaching in Ashok Nagar, took her own life on Friday night leading to a tense situation in the city as student unions and opposition parties took to the streets in protest. Protesters claimed that the suicide was due to TSPSC exam postponement and cancellations. However, denying the claims by the protestors, ACP Chikadpally A Yadagiri revealed that 25-year-old Marri Pravalika died by suicide after her boyfriend cheated on her for another marriage.

Pravalika's last rites were conducted in her hometown Warangal. Political leaders and student unions were not permitted to join the funeral procession. Tensions escalated in Osmania University as there was a confrontation between the police and students in the aftermath of the protests.
