Telangana Govt releases Rs.1,190 cr to gram panchayats, sarpanches thank KCR

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Tuesday decided in principle to release funds to the tune of Rs 1,190 crores towards pending works in gram panchayats across the state after Finance Minister T Harish Rao, Panchayat Raj, and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao held talks with Chief Secretary A Shanti Kumari yesterday.
The two ministers, who also met today, directed the authorities concerned to take steps to ensure the funds were released at the earliest possible to resume the development works in rural areas.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Sarpanches Association met the Panchayat Raj Minister at his residence in Hyderabad and expressed their happiness over the release of the funds for the development works. They also extended their gratitude to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Ministers Harish Rao and Errabelli Dayakar Rao also expressed their gratitude to KCR saying that the latter was a people's leader who always thought of the people and the progress of the state. "Despite financial constraints, the Chief Minister released the funds for rural development," the ministers added.
