Telangana govt. to distribute free notebooks to over 12 lakh students
Telangana government has decided to provide the required notebooks to the students free of cost to minimise financial burden on the students
HYDERABAD: Ahead of the reopening of school on June 12, the Telangana government has decided to provide the required notebooks to the students free of cost to minimise financial burden on the students.
However, the government will distribute the said books to the students of classes 6 to 12 and those studying in all government and local body schools, model schools, gurukula schools, urban residential schools, and KGBV schools in the state. It has been decided to provide free notebooks and workbooks to the students of classes 1-5 from the next academic year.
The government estimated the spend at Rs. 56.24 crores to distribute a total of 1,17,88,699 notebooks to as many as 12,39,415 students. The government will distribute six notebooks for students of classes 6 and 7, seven notebooks for students of class 8, 14 notebooks to class 9 and 10 students, and 12 notebooks to intermediate students respectively.
Apart from the distribution of the books, the government will also provide two pairs of uniforms to all the students studying in government educational institutions spending Rs.150 crores.
