Telangana govt to promote farm mechanisation: Niranjan Reddy

He said that with the arrival of irrigation water, all the labourers of Telangana became agricultural labourers.

HYDERABAD: Telangana's Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy, on Thursday, said that farm mechanisation will be encouraged in the agriculture sector of the State. A team, led by Minister Niranjan Reddy, visited Shaktiman Industry in Rajkot, Gujarat, which manufactured advanced agricultural equipment, to understand mechanisation in the agricultural sector.

He said that with the arrival of irrigation water, all the labourers of Telangana became agricultural labourers. In the last seven years, people from 11 states of the country came to Telangana and were working as agricultural labourers.

He said that a lot of workers came from the states of UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. There was a need to shift the peasantry towards mechanisation in agriculture. He said that there was a need to promote mechanisation even in small lands.

A groundnut processing unit was inspected at Rajkot with fully indigenous agricultural equipment. The Minister invited Shaktiman to set up a unit in Telangana promising that all kinds of support from the government would be provided.

State Agriculture Secretary Raghunandan Rao, Agros MD Ramulu, Agros GM Rajamouli and others were present in the program. They also visited the famous Jyotirligam Somnath temple and offered prayers.
