Telangana Govt to screen Gandhi movie free in 582 screens from Aug 14-24

HYDERABAD: Marking the culmination of ‘Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsavam’ celebrations, the Telangana Government decided to screen Richard Attenborough’s Oscar Winner Gandhi movie free across 582 screens all over the State from August 14 to August 24, 2023.

Announcing this, Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Wednesday said that arrangements would be made to take school children to these special screenings and drop them back at their schools. He urged theatre management, education and transport departments to coordinate with each other for a successful screening of the movie. He recalled that Gandhi was screened successfully at the beginning of the Diamond Jubilee and lakhs viewed the movie.

Srinivas Yadav said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wanted that the Diamond Jubilee celebrations must be celebrated memorably. “Screening of Gandhi that depicted the life and teachings of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi would be a befitting gesture,” he said.

Film Development Corporation Chairman Anilkumar Kurmachalam, Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce President Sunil Narang and Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce President and Producer Dil Raju attended the meeting.
