Telangana High Court cancels Group 1 prelims of TSPSC held on June 11, orders re-examination

The Telangana State Public Service Commission’s Group 1 preliminary examination was conducted for a second time on June 11.

HYDERABAD: Group 1 preliminary examination of Telangana State Public Service Commission was scrapped by Telangana High Court.

The court directed the TSPSC to conduct the examination again. The exam conducted on June 11 was cancelled as some candidates and National Students Union of India leader Venkat Balmoori approached the High Court.

The petitioners contended that biometric system was not followed in the conduct of the examination. The OMR sheets was given without hall ticket numbers.

This is the second time that the TSPSC Group 1 examination. The Group 1 prelims were first conducted on October 16, 2022.

However, the examination had been cancelled earlier due to a slew of leakage of question papers. The Telangana Government ordered an inquiry into the leakage. 

Scrap TSPSC, pay one lakh as compensation

NSUI State resident B Venkat sought the Government to scrap the TSPSC and constitute a new commission in its place. “There was negligence written all over the way the exams were conducted, there were 248 additional OMR sheets and the biometrics were not taken, forcing the NSUI to move court,” he said.

Congress leader Harshavardhan demanded an inquiry into the whole issue and alleged that the Government had appointed a person who was involved in the 1994 DSC paper leakage case as a member of the service commission. Riyaz, another leader from the Congress, demanded the release of the student leaders who were arrested for protesting against the Government’s inability to conduct the Group 1 examinations.
