Telangana, Iowa aim to boost agricultural prosperity through cooperation

IOWA, USA: Telangana Agriculture Minister S. Niranjan Reddy met Iowa Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig on Tuesday to discuss potential areas of cooperation between the two states.

Niranjan Reddy highlighted Telangana's agricultural progress under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He said that the State had made significant strides in increasing food production, improving irrigation infrastructure, and supporting farmers.

"We believe that by working together, we can help each other achieve our shared goals of agricultural prosperity," the Minister said.

Gregg was impressed with Telangana's accomplishments. He pinned that the two States shared many similarities, and that he was eager to explore opportunities for collaboration.

"We are excited to explore opportunities for collaboration with Telangana. We believe that there are many areas where we can learn from each other," Gregg said.

Naig, who earlier practised farming, said that he was interested in learning more about Telangana's agricultural programmes. He said that Iowa was always looking for ways to improve its own agricultural sector.

The Telangana Minister also met Wendy Wintersteen, president of Iowa State University. The two discussed the possibility of establishing student and faculty exchange programmes between the two universities.

Niranjan Reddy then visited the Iowa State University Seed Science Center. He met scientists there to discuss their research on seed development and production.
