Speaking on the occasion, KCR said that Mahabubabad was drought-prone and under-developed land and therefore, after Telangana was formed, it was made a district to monitor its development closely. “Comparatively, there is significant difference and development in the district,” he claimed.

KCR sanctioned Rs 50 crores to Mahabubabad for further development and Rs 25 crores for other municipalities in the district. The Chief Minister also sanctioned Rs 10 lakhs to every gram panchayat and said that the sarpanch would have complete authority over the funds.

Taking a dig at the Centre, KCR said, “Telangana suffered a colossal loss of at least Rs 3 lakh crores due to the failures of the Central government.” The country would become another Afghanistan if communal hatred continued to be instigated with the help of divisive politics, he said, adding that the country would develop only if there was good governance at the Centre.

Recalling the contributions of renowned politician from Telangana Nukula Ramachandra Reddy, who hailed from Mahabubabad, KCR said that the BRS government would take upon itself the responsibility of installing a bronze statue of the Congress leader.

Later in the day, KCR flew down to Palvoncha where he inaugurated the newly constructed Integrated District Complex of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. After taking part in the customary puja to mark the inauguration, he led the District Collector Anudeep Durishetty to his chair.

Speaking on the occasion, KCR reminisced the days of his most decisive efforts in Khammam district at the height of the separate statehood movement many years ago. He recalled his preventive detention in Khammam jail after he launched into an indefinite fast to press for the separate Telangana cause.

“Today, Kothagudem district has a collectorate, a medical college and a thermal power plant, among many other facilities,” he added. The Chief Minister, who came to Kothagudem from Mahabubabad in a chopper, was warmly welcomed by the district leaders and officials
