Telangana mobility valley will create world-class e-mobility infrastructure: KTR

HYDERABAD: Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday said that the Telangana Mobility Valley, a vision of the Telangana Government to uplift sustainability, would create best-in-class infrastructure in the e-mobility sector, not just for the State but for the world.

Speaking at the Mobility Next Hyderabad Summit 2023, as part of the e-mobility week that Hyderabad is hosting, the Minister said that climate sustainability was the agenda of all developing countries and to honour this, Hyderabad would be hosting e-mobility week as an annual fixature. “Public and private road transport contributes to 1/5th of carbon emissions. Hence, it is important to introduce e-mobility solutions,” KTR said.

This annual electric mobility event would foster collaborations by bringing together e-mobility experts and global automotive innovators to chart eco-friendly innovation.

The e-mobility week 2023 would include a rally to promote e-mobility in citizens. The event was held in the City with 1,000 electric vehicles participating in the rally taken out in two routes. There would be a Hyderabad e-motor show to provide a platform to companies to showcase next-gen EV models and India’s first ever Formula E race would be hosted in Hyderabad.

The Minister said that Telangana was setting an example to the country and the world by turning into a hub for clean energy. “Telangana is India’s second largest solar energy generator. We are now aiming at becoming India's largest EV manufacturing hub too. Our EV and ESS policies facilitate investment in EV companies by providing tax exemptions, subsidies and support to EV companies,” the Minister said.

He also said that around a billion-dollar investment was already received in the e-mobility sector from national and international companies like Olectra, Micra, Brampton, One Motto, Etrio, Stellatis, Bosch etc.

KTR said that, to make a revolution in this sector, the Telangana Government would be developing a Mobiltiy Valley to accelerate the growth of sustainable mobility. “The Telangana Government has an audacious goal of raising Rs 50-lakh-crore investments and creating four-lakh jobs in the TMV in the next five years,” he said.

KTR also said, “We have identified four mega EV clusters in Telangana. EV manufacturing units in Zaheerabad and Chevella, energy storage system cluster in Mahboobngar and an engineering and innovation cluster in Vikarabad.”

In TMV, industry and academic centres of excellence would be created to pave the way for innovation and execution of EV development. He said that the valley created a momentum in the EV sector. “The valley would also be a place for e-mobility startups,” KTR said.
