HYDERABAD: The Telangana Excise Department has begun the process of granting the license to 2,620 retail liquor (A4) shops in the State for the next two years (2023-25). A notification in this regard would be released by the department on August 4, 2023.
State Excise Director Farooqui held a meeting with the excise officers of all the districts and higher officials in the department on Tuesday. Farooqui informed them about the guidelines to be followed for liquor auctions. The notification would be released on August 4, 2023 and the application process would also begin the same day.
Official sources said that the lottery would be held on August 20 or 21, 2023. With the excise department implementing the same policy in vogue for the last two years there would be no changes in the application fee or the number of shops permitted. Apart from that, the reservations for SC, ST and Gowda communities would be implemented like earlier.
