Telangana to vote on November 30, counting on December 3
3.17 crore voters including 8.22 lakh first-time voters in Telangana will vote this time around
HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that Telangana will go for polls on November 30, 2023. Counting of votes is scheduled for December 3.
As per EC, there are 3.17 crore voters in Telangana . The EC last week released a final list of voters in the State ahead of the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. Telangana currently has 3,17,17,389 votes after the canceled votes. After purusual, a total of 22,02,168 votes were deleted. Of the 3.17 crore voters, 1,58,71,493 are men, 1,58,43,339 women and 2,557 transgender voters. 15,338 people are service voters and 2,780 are overseas voters as per the list.
Around 17 lakh new voters have been added to the list. This is a 5.8 per cent increase from the first special summary revision list released in January 2023. Multiple rounds of house-to-house surveys and verifications have been conducted, and 14,24,694 corrections have been made to the electoral roll this year. Addresses of 4,15,824 voters (mostly apartments/portions in the same building having same door numbers) were corrected.
For Telangana, the date of notification will be declared on: November 3. The last date of nominations would be on November 10. Date for scrutiny of nominations would be on November 13 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures would be on November 15.
