Telangana polls: KCR, KTR, Harish Rao file nominations on penultimate day

As many as 1,188 candidates filed their nominations till November 8 for the upcoming elections in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Amid much fanfare and a sea of followers, several prominent leaders in Telangana filed their nomination papers in their respective constituencies on Thursday, which was the penultimate day for filing nominations for the Third Legislative Assembly elections in the State, that would go to the polls on November 30, 2023.

For the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), it was a hectic day as BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) filed his nomination papers from Kamareddy and Gajwel Assembly constituencies respectively. Similarly, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) and Health Minister T Harish Rao also filed their nomination papers in Sircilla and Siddipet Assembly constituencies.

 BRS Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy who was recently hospitalised after being stabbed by a person at Surampalli in Doulthabad on October 30, filed his nomination from Dubbak. He arrived in an ambulance to Dubbak and proceeded to the Returning Officer’s chamber in a wheelchair. Prabhakar Reddy was accompanied by Harish Rao during his nomination.

In Khammam district, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikrama filed his nomination from Madhira.

In an official statement released by the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana on Thursday as many as 1,188 candidates filed their nominations till November 8 for the upcoming elections in the State. The counting of votes would be taken up on December 3, 2023.
