Telangana: Praja Palana gets 1,24,85,383 applications, mostly for Indiramma houses
The data entry for these applications will be completed by January 17, followed by selecting beneficiaries for various schemes.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government's Praja Palana program, called 'Abhaya hastam', has received a great response from the public. The program, which lasted for eight days, received 1,24,85,383 applications by Friday, the last day. The data entry for these applications will be completed by January 17, followed by selecting beneficiaries for various schemes.
The applications were accepted for various schemes, including Mahalakshmi, Rythu Bharosa, Griha Jyoti, Indiramma houses, and other schemes under the six guarantees in village, ward, and division. On the last day for applications, there was a massive turnout with 16,90,278 applications from 603 gram panchayats and 107 wards. The cumulative applications received overall are 1,24,85,383.
The Congress party had promised to implement six guarantees within 100 days of coming to power and launched free bus ride for women on the second day after taking charge. The party provided free travel to women in RTC buses and increased the insurance amount under the Aarogyasri scheme to Rs.10 lakh. Applications for the remaining guarantees were accepted starting from December 28, with many applications being made for new ration cards.
While 15 percent of the applications were related to non-guarantee issues such as ration cards and land problems, a majority of interest was seen on the Mahalakshmi, Rythu Bharosa, Griha Jyoti, and Indiramma houses schemes.
The Indiramma houses and Mahalakshmi scheme received the most applications. Many people who work in cities and towns had to travel back to their villages to apply for the schemes as their ration cards were registered in their hometowns.
The Praja Palana program officially ended on Saturday, but the government has announced that it will continue and be conducted once every four months. It has also been stated that those unable to apply in the first phase can submit their applications in the upcoming phases. Ministers, MLAs, and local representatives actively participated in the program.
