Telangana team visits War Memorial of Korea in Seoul, to submit report to KCR

SEOUL: A high-level delegation headed by Telangana ministers V Srinivas Goud and Gangula Kamalakar on Monday visited the famous War Memorial of Korea in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.

The team, also comprising Vice-President of Telangana State Planning Commission Boinapally Vinod Kumar, Tourism Department Managing Director Manohar and Karimnagar District Collector RV Karnan, visited the War Memorial cum Museum on the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) to study tourist spots in Seoul as part of a plan to develop tourism sector in Telangana.

The ministers went around the park, which was set up in Seoul with warplanes, tankers, submarines and arms used in the last Korean War many decades ago.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Goud said that they visited Seoul on the directions of KCR as part of Telangana’s plans to establish a War Memorial Park in the state. He said that they would inspect the weapons used by the three wings – Army, Air Force and Navy – of South Korea in the previous wars. These war machines had been retired and rested in the War Memorial.

He said that they would submit a report to the Chief Minister with recommendations to establish the largest ‘War Memorial Park’ in Telangana featuring airplanes, tankers, marines and arms used in wars with the cooperation of officials of the three armed forces.

The ministers said that the War Memorial Park to be set up in Telangana on the lines of one in Seoul would help in increasing awareness, interest, courage and knowledge besides inculcating love for the country and patriotism among present generation youth.

The Telangana delegation will also study other tourist attractions on either side of the Seoul River and prepare a plan to implement them in Telangana alongside Krishna and Godavari rivers.
