Telangana's new secretariat to be inaugurated on January 18

HYDERABAD: The BR Ambedkar Secretariat, the new secretariat facility for Telangana, will be officially inaugurated on January 18, 2023. The new complex is expected to be fully operational by Sankranti.

According to reports, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has instructed the officials of the Roads and Buildings department officials and the representatives of Shapoorji Pallonji, the contracting agency for the prestigious project, to complete all works by this time. Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, during his latest visit to the site, asked them to keep the building ready before the deadline set by KCR. The Minister also directed the agency to hire more people if necessary to expedite the remaining works.

According to official sources, about 90 percent of the work has already been completed. 

The seven-storey Secretariat building, named after BR Ambedkar, has a built-up area of seven lakh square feet and is being constructed at a cost of Rs 650 crore.

 After the inauguration of the new Secretariat on January 18, KCR will step into the sixth floor and assumed office in the Chief Minister's chamber. The first floor will house a photo gallery, museum and art gallery while the second and third floors will feature a convention centre and restaurants.
