Telugu student from Madhira killed in gun misfire in Alabama, US

KHAMMAM: In a heartbreaking incident that happened in Alabama, a Telugu student hailing from Madhira town of Khammam district was killed in a gun misfire incident on Monday night.

Mahankali Akhil Sai, who went to pursue his Masters degree in the US 13 months ago, was working part time at a gas station in Auburn, Alabama.

At around 10:00 pm (CST) on Monday, a security guard who was patrolling the gas station, was checking his gun when it misfired, leaving Akhil with a bullet in his head. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

His parents back home in India, were devastated by the news of their son’s death. Full details of the incident were to emerge.
