TSPSC paper leak: Telangana High Court refuses to transfer SIT probe to CBI

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing into the TSPSC question paper leakage case to June 5, 2023 while expressing satisfaction over the probe by the special investigation team (SIT).

The High Court also expressed its inability to intervene on the matter of transferring the case probe from the SIT to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The High Court made this categorically clear in response to a petition filed by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) seeking directions to this effect. Expressing its general contentment on the progress of the SIT in its probe, the High Court said that it could not intervene to transfer the probe at this juncture.

During the course of hearing, the High Court wanted to know when the SIT was going to wind up its investigation into the case. To this, the advocate general informed the High Court that the Central Forensic Laboratory report was awaited.

The High Court initially was of the view that the SIT investigation had slowed down but expressed its satisfaction with the explanations given by the advocate general and SIT ACP Narsing Rao on the overall progress of the investigating team. The advocate general also faced a volley of questions from the High Court on this occasion.

It sought to know when the investigation into the TSPSC question paper leak case would be completed and if any outsourced staff of the commission had been questioned so far in this connection. The High Court also wanted to know what was the role of accused no. 16 Prashanth in the case and if those who purchased the question papers from Renuka’s husband Dakya Naik in turn sold them to any more people.

Expressing its contentment with the responses given by the advocate general in this regard, the Telangana High Court later adjourned the case for further hearing to June 5.
