Vara Vara Rao undergoes cataract surgery at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital
The Surgeon and Superintendent of the hospital Dr. V Rajalingam stated that the 83-year-old activist arrived at the hospital directly from the airport on Saturday.
HYDERABAD: Poet and activist Vara Vara Rao, one of the accused in the 2018 Elgar Parishad case underwent cataract surgery at the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital on Saturday. The Mumbai High Court on October 23 granted permission for a week time for him to travel to Hyderabad and undergo cataract surgery.
The Surgeon and Superintendent of the hospital Dr. V Rajalingam stated that the 83-year-old activist arrived at the hospital directly from the airport on Saturday.
He underwent Cataract surgery and the surgery was phaco with multifocal foldable IOL and the surgery was successful. " He cooperated well for sutureless topical anesthesia and he was prescribed appropriate medications," Dr Rajalingam said.
One cataract surgery, two visions
Writer N Venugopal, the nephew of Vara Vara Rao in his recent social media post made an observation about how the surgery of his uncle got delayed but the other person (apparently Nara Chandrababu Naidu) got bail in no time for the same surgery.
“One person seeks bail in September 2022 to undergo cataract surgery to rectify his failing vision, but the Court rejects the plea. Even after the Court gives the permission the orders get delayed. In the case of the other person the Court announces bail at 11 am and he comes out by 4 pm on the same day, not everyone same in front of the eyes of the law,” Venugopal said. Later he also clarified that he was just comparing cataracts and not the persons.
