Why didn't you turn Hussain Sagar into coconut water pond, Sanjay asks KCR

HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP state president Bandi Sanjay on Friday criticised Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao saying that the latter had broken his promise about cleansing river Musi. He said that the chief minister, even after spending Rs 4,000 crores, could not transform Hussain Sagar and make its water taste as sweet as coconut water, just as he promised earlier.

On the fourth day of his Sangrama Yatra, Bandi Sanjay, who came to Peddaraolapalli via Bhattugude,m organized a rachabanda with the people of the station. On this occasion, the local people informed him about the hardships they were facing as a result of the muddy water. Musi river has contaminated their food, damaged the crops and caused severe health issues, they complained.

Bandi Sanjay blamed KCR for their suffering. "What happened to KCR's promise to make Musi just like Godavari and Hussain Sagar like coconut water?" he asked. Sanjay accused the KCR government of indulging in indiscriminate borrowing of loans through various corporations and looting the money, thereby destroying the state's financial position.

"The per capita debt burden has mounted to Rs 1.30 lakh," he said.

The state BJP chief charged the KCR government with diverting the Central funds and non-implementation of the central schemes — whether it was the free distribution of rice or the employment guarantee scheme. Though the central government released funds for river Musi cleansing, the state government remained a mute spectator when industrial effluents were being let out into the river, damaging the crops and health of the people, he alleged.

"Send a bottle of water from river Musi to KCR. At least after tasting it, he will realise the magnitude of the problem," the BJP president said. Finally, he added that he had not come for votes or elections and clarified that he was sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to know the people's problems.
