HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has reacted strongly to party leaders defecting to the Congress and said that the doors for their return to the party would be permanently closed. Calling the defection of former Minister Patnam Mahender Reddy and Chevella MP G Ranjith Reddy akin to betrayal and backstabbing, KTR asked party cadres to seek retribution at the ballot box.

Speaking at the Chevella Parliamentary meeting at the Telangana Bhavan on Friday, KTR said, "Ranjith Reddy and Mahender Reddy are good at acting. They promised to not defect to any party under any circumstances. I believed their words like a fool. But in 15 days, they switched to the Congress. Tomorrow, they will try and return to the BRS when we come back to power. Even if they plead and fall at the feet of K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), we will not let them join the party."

KTR also said that he would restrain from commenting on the exit of senior leaders K Keshava Rao and Kadiyam Srihari and called it a selfish move for political gains.

Giving a boost to the cadres, KTR promised that he would personally help the workers who had toiled hard for the party and that they should try and win the upcoming elections. He urged the cadre to work collectively in pushing the BRS agenda and ensuring the party’s victory in their respective constituencies.

KTR also targetted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and questioning his political allegiances. He asked Revanth Reddy to clarify if he was aligned with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi or Prime Minister Narendra Modi. KTR also ridiculed the Chief Minister for not accepting his challenge to contest from Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency.

KTR credited Chevella BRS candidate Kasani Gnaneshwar for working for marginalised sections and fighting for their cause throughout his life. He said that Gnaneshwar joined the BRS when others were deserting it and that it was important to ensure his victory from Chevella with a thumping majority.
