HYDERABAD: An all-out attack on the regressive fiscal policies of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre is in the offing as the State Government on Thursday called for a week-long winter session of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly in December. The State Government is expected to use the winter session to debate the Centre's imposition of cuts in the state's legitimate share of revenue.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided that the state's economic situation and Centre's sanctions be discussed in detail during this Assembly session. Accordingly, the Chief Minister has directed Finance Minister Harish Rao and Legislative Affairs Minister Prashant Reddy to make the necessary preparations.

KCR, it is reported, is of the view that the unwarranted restrictions imposed by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre on a progressive state like Telangana had resulted in a decrease of more than Rs 40,000 cr in revenue to the State for the fiscal year 2022-23.

He is reportedly of the opinion that such measures would derail Telangana's development. Against this backdrop, the Chief Minister has decided to use the upcoming Assembly session to explain the Centre's regressive fiscal curbs to the people of Telangana during the session. A formal announcement will be made soon on the exact date for the commencement of the winter Assembly session.
