HYDERABAD: On day six of his third Praja Sangrama Yatra, Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay arrived in Munugode on Monday. From Masjid Gudem, he entered Serilly village within the Munugode Constituency. His arrival in the constituency assumed significance particularly in the wake of the recent political developments in the state.
Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who was the MLA from this Assembly constituency, resigned from his position and also from the primary membership of Congress party. He also announced his decision to join the BJP very soon.
With Rajgopal Reddy's resignation also accepted on Monday, the election heat has officially begun here. Call it coincidence or by design, Bandi Sanjay happens to be the first prominent leader to step into Munugode and swing into an unofficial campaign mode. The mood was palpable during his padayatra.
Before going ahead with his padayatra, Bandi Sanjay hoisted the party flag at Masjid Gudem. In the presence of Bandi Sanjay and state BJP Vice-President Gangidi Manohar Reddy, about 100 leaders and activists from various parties joined the BJP party.
Bandi Sanjay invited many leaders and activists to the party by presenting them with a saffron scarf. During the Padayatra, many BJP workers, farmers and the unemployed accompanied Bandi Sanjay. After listening to the locals' problems, Bandi Sanjay continued his foot march.
A contingent of representatives from the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) also met Bandi Sanjay during his padayatra. The MRPS activists raised the long pending issue of providing statutory status to SC classification and asked the state BJP chief to bring the matter to the attention of the central government. He promised to do his best to ensure legalisation of the SC classification. Sanjay urged everyone to vote for the BJP in the Mungode by-election and help the party win.
