HYDERABAD: Movie shootings will stop from tomorrow. A general body meeting of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce was held on Sunday, and decided to extend their support to the Active Telugu Producers Guild's decision to stop the film shootings from August 1.
Though several movies are under production, they decided to go ahead with the strike. No new film shoots will hit the floors, and the films already under production will also be halted.
Reacting to the same, Dil Raju, a key member of the Active Telugu Producers Guild, said, "We decided to stop the film shootings from tomorrow in the General body meeting. We will meet again to discuss the issues we are facing. The shootings will not resume until we find a workable solution for all the issues."
Meanwhile, Basi Reddy was elected the new president of the Telugu Film Chamber. He also confirmed that the shoots would not take place. "There are issues for everyone working in the 24 crafts. We will stop the shootings until we find a solution," said Basi Reddy.
There are reports that not everyone is happy with the decision. Some of the producers are against stopping the shootings. They hoped to find a solution in Sunday's general body meeting, but they were left with disappointment.
Producers like Bandla Ganesh publicly expressed their displeasure over the bandh of film shootings. He is against the idea of requesting the star heroes to cut down their remunerations. Even Ashwani Dutt asserted that he was against asking the stars to reduce their remuneration as it formed a small part of the total production cost of a movie.
A few other producers are also unhappy with these latest developments.
But, they are hopeful of coming out of this situation soon.
