HYDERABAD: An attack on a prayer hall at Janwada in Narsingi of Ranga Reddy district occurred early on Wednesday, according to initial reports. However, police have yet to either confirm or deny if thee clashes have a communal or caste angle.

Miscreants pelted stones on the shrine of some people practicing a religion. Doors and windows of the place were broken. Also, three persons, including a woman, were attacked and injured in the incident.

The miscreants rushed into the shrine and brutally attacked the people there causing bleeding injuries. The m attackers raided on the place of worship with sticks and stones.

The attackers also assaulted women who came in their way. The assailants hurled invectives at the people at the place of worship in the name of their caste.

The trigger was said to be a dispute that erupted over a road.

Gradually, the situation went out of control and the attackers violently hit the people at the place of worship.

Mokila and Narsingi police reached the scene and dispersed the mobs by resorting to a mild lathi charge.

The police registered a case and are investigating as to why the prayer hall was attacked.

The victims claimed that they were attacked as they belonged to the downtrodden sections of the society.
