Country being divided on religious lines, KCR attacks BJP
Telangana CM KCR on Wednesday called upon people to be vigilant against divisive forces driven by vested political interests
MEDCHAL: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday called upon people to be vigilant against divisive forces driven by vested political interests.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the Integrated District Offices Complex of the Medchal-Malkajgiri district here, he emphasised the need for a qualitative change in the body politic of the country.
Attacking indirectly the politics of the BJP and its NDA combine at the Centre, KCR said: "A concerted effort is being made to divide India in the name of caste and religion. It will be difficult for the society to withstand the ill-effects, if hatred is fomented on these lines. Like China, we must move forward, free from casteist and religious considerations."
KCR said that people should watch out for those who would stoop low for petty politics. "People should be cautious. Any lapse in this will make us pay a heavy price. We were left high and dry for 58 years under the erstwhile unified Andhra Pradesh rule. Now that we are on our feet, we need to preserve our natural resources for our benefit and also for the future generations", he said.
The TRS chief also harped on his recent refrain on the need for the people to deliberate on the political developments across the country. "The developments taking place in the country should be keenly watched and debated in villages and towns. You should brainstorm the issues. What you read in newspapers and watch on TV channels, you should not stop at that. We can progress as a country only when we have an enlightened society", KCR said.
