Drug addict becomes peddler; Hyderabad Police arrest Nigerian, seize narcotics cache

Hyderabad: In a joint operation, the Telangana State Anti-Narcotic Bureau (TSNAB) and Panjagutta Police have apprehended a Nigerian drug peddler named Iwuala Udoka Stanley, for attempting to sell narcotics.

During a press conference held at the Panjagutta police station, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Vijay Kumar disclosed that the arrest took place on Monday afternoon in Erramanzil area, following information received about an individual attempting to peddle drugs.

The police seized a substantial quantity of illicit substances from Stanley, including 557 grams of cocaine, 902 ecstasy pills (totalling 390 grams), 105 LSD blots, 215 grams of charas, 21 grams of heroin, 7 grams of amphetamine, 45 grams of weed, and eight cell phones with an estimated value of Rs 5.4 lakh.

According to DCP Vijay Kumar, Stanley initially arrived in Mumbai in 2009 on a business visa and was engaged in the cloth business. After a year, he relocated to Goa, where he encountered individuals involved in drug activities. Succumbing to peer pressure, Stanley developed a drug addiction and eventually transitioned into the drug trade to capitalise on the lucrative earnings reported by his associates.

As Stanley's acquaintances returned to Nigeria, he continued his involvement in the drug trade, catering to a clientele that included users referred to him by other peddlers. The arrest was facilitated by information provided by Hanumant Babuso Diwakar, who had been apprehended in the same area. The SR Nagar police successfully traced Stanley's location and subsequently carried out the arrest.

In 2017 too, Stanley was arrested in Goa for selling drugs and was lodged in Goa Central Jail.
