Elephant herd spotted in Palamaner, residents blame forest officials

AMARAVATI: The residents of Palamaner town in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh have shown anguish towards forest department officials after a herd of elephants entered the fields in their village on Monday.

They said that the officials, who had to keep a close watch on the area, were not doing their duty of keeping the elephants from entering the town.

In several incidents, people of Chittoor district witnessed elephants rampaging residential areas and fields. Being very close to a forest area, elephants were seen entering the villages and creating destruction.

A herd of elephants created panic among the people of Palamaner town in the Chittoor district when they were spotted in the residential area. As there is a forest area very close to Palamaner town, elephants roam in the forest area and come to the agricultural fields near the town for food.

The people were demanding that the forest officials resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
