How BRS owned up “Telangana muddu bidda” PV Narasimha Rao?
It was KCR who owned up Narasimha Rao. KCR had Narasimha Rao’s daughter Surabhi Vani Devi as an MLC from a graduates constituency of Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) literally owned PV Narasimha Rao who had been insulted by the Congress party.
K Chandrashekar Rao, who was the first Chief Minister of Telangana, has always held PV in the highest regard.
It was KCR who owned up Narasimha Rao. KCR had Narasimha Rao’s daughter Surabhi Vani Devi as an MLC from a graduates constituency of Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy districts in Telangana Legislative Council with a huge margin.

Way back on September 8, 2020, the KCR Government moved a resolution in the Telangana Assembly demanding Bharat Ratna to Narasimha Rao. This was supported unanimously by all parties on the floor of the House, including the Congress.

Current IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu had spoken in favour of the resolution and waxed eloquent on the former Prime Minister.
KCR, moving the resolution, had said Narasimha Rao was the prime contributor in making India one of the largest economies across the globe and a rapidly growing nation for decades.
KCR had said that only two Prime Ministers could influence the nation’s direction to tread the path of progress – Jawaharlal Nehru, who was renowned as the architect of modern India and the other was Narasimha Rao who made it Global India.
Rao was the first south Indian to ascend to the highest office of yje Prime Minister and created history “as dear son of Telangana (muddu bidda.”
Narasimha Rao became the Prime Minister at a time when India was mired in too many problems with a terrible economic situation. Hir reforms deflected the country forever with liberalisation policies, scrapping of the licence-permit raj, KCR recalled.
While the economic reforms bounced India into the league of global players, the effective and assertive foreign policies and an intelligent diplomatic approach of the Narasimha Rao Government established strong business relations with South Asian nations and the Western nations.
KCR lauded the measures taken by Rao in bringing peace to the trouble-torn Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir which were bleeding due to terrorism and insurgency.
“He introduced reforms in whichever portfolio he handled and ensured their effective implementation,” KCR had said.KCR had a 26-foot bronze statue of Narasimha Rao installed on the banks of Hussain Sagar and unveiled the same at a gala function on June 20, 2021.
KCR had announced at that time that the state government would establish a “Vidya Peetham” in the name of the late PV Narasimha Rao at Kakatiya University in Warangal.
He had rechristened the Necklace Road in Hyderabad as PV Narasimha Rao Marg.
It may be recalled that KCR said PV was popular for economic reforms and bailed out the country from a financial crisis.
KCR was quoted by media as saying: “He also ran a minority government for five years, besides introducing many welfare schemes.”
KCR had lauded the land reforms, introduced by Narasimha Rao, in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, which were replicated by several states. Rao had donated 800 acres of his own agriculture land in Warangal and Karimnagar districts, denoting his commitment to upliftment of the poor.
Hailing the decision, Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao said: “Glad that the Union Government has honoured Former Prime Minister Sri PV Narasimha Rao with Bharat Ratna.
I thank PM Sri @narendramodi Ji for this decision.“We have been demanding the Union Government for this honour since the centenary celebrations of Sri PVNR held by Telangana Govt under the leadership of Sri KCR Garu.”
He also recalled his earlier demand for conferring Bharat Ratna on Narasimha Rao.
