Interest on property tax waived in TS

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government introduced a "One Time Scheme" (OTS) in which 90 percent interest on property tax will be waived off on property tax in all Urban Local Bodies in the State including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), till October 31.

All taxpayers will be allowed to clear the principal amount of property tax dues till the year 2021-2022 with only 10 percent interest on the accumulated arrears at one go under the OTS.

Tax payers, who paid their entire property tax dues including interest / penalties upto march, 2022 during the current financial year prior to the introduction of this scheme, 90% of such interest/ penalties shall be adjusted against their future payments.

The Commissioner of GHMC and the Director of Municipal Administration, Hyderabad would be taking all necessary measures, repeatedly, during this period, to take up wide publicity and awareness creation on this scheme including, inter-alia, reach out to taxpayers via their addresses, send them messages, make phone calls and take up advertisement in print media and scrolls in electronic media etc., to ensure that the OTS is widely publicised and are able to reach out to maximum number of taxpayers. 

A mechanism would be set in place to ensure daily monitoring and ensure that OTS is done in a completely transparent manner.
