Jagan reverses TDP regime's land policy; denotifies 36,000 acres in AP

AVANIGADDA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday announced the denotification of 35,669 acres of land across the state, saying that it would restore farmers' rights to sell or gift their land. The denotification will benefit 22,042 farmers in phases.

Observing that the denotification of lands under Section 22A would fully restore the rights of farmers who were barred from selling or gifting them due to the TDP regime's wrong policies, he stated that the programme was only a part of the 100-year resurvey of lands undertaken to permanently resolve land disputes in the state.

He said that 10,019 farmers in Avanigadda constituency alone would get their rights back over 15,791 acres while the rest of the farmers across the state would get freedom from Section 22A in phases.

The anti-farmer TDP regime brought several GOs in May 2016 taking away the rights of farmers by including certain categories of lands like 'chukkala bhumulu' and assigned lands in Section 22A barring the farmers from selling or gifting them to others, Jagan said.

Pointing out that all wrongs done by the TDP regime were being undone by the present Government, the Chief Minister asked people to see the difference between the policies of the TDP and those of the present Government.

"Farmers and landowners still encounter several issues because there are insufficient accurate land records, even after 75 years of independence," he said, But the current administration, he claimed, is turning the state into a model by enacting a number of pro-farmer laws.
