KCR exercises vote in President's election

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao exercised his vote for the Presidential election here on Monday afternoon. Accompanied by a galaxy of party leaders, he arrived at the State Assembly committee hall where the polling centre was set up and cast his vote in favour of opposition nominee Yashwant Sinha.

Earlier in the day, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President and Minister Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) was the first to cast his ballot. A host of ministers and MLAs and MPs have cast their votes.

Before the polling exercise began at the state Assembly, the TRS conducted a mock-polling session at the party headquarters, the Telangana Bhavan. All the ministers and party legislators were educated in detail on how to cast their vote in accordance with the party's line.

The TRS is supporting the candidature of Yashwant Sinha who is in the fray with the support of several opposition parties. He is taking on Draupadi Murmu, fielded by the ruling NDA. The polling will go on till 5 pm while the results will be announced July 21 (Thursday). The 119 legislators of the Telangana Assembly carry a total value of 15,708 in the electoral college.
