KCR, Jagan laud PV Sindhu on first Commonwealth Gold
Olympic bronze medalist and Hyderabadi PV Sindhu bagged her first Commonwealth Gold when she defeated Michelle Li in Birmingham
HYDERABAD: Olympic bronze medalist and Hyderabadi PV Sindhu bagged her first Commonwealth Gold when she defeated Michelle Li in Birmingham on Monday. In a keenly contested women's singles badminton finals, she humbled her Canadian opponent in two straight sets at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Sindhu's gold saw India toppling New Zealand and moving up to the fourth position on the leaderboard. India has so far won 56 medals out of which 19 are golds.
Reacting to Sindhu's stupendous achievement, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy congratulated India's ace badminton star. They also congratulated the Indian contingent for making the country proud with their superlative performances.
Incidentally, Sindhu's tally of Commonwealth medals goes to three with Monday's glittering Gold clearly standing out.
