KTR rules out early elections
On the rift between the TRS government and the Raj Bhavan, KTR hastened to clarify that they had absolutely no issues with the governor.
HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President and Minister Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday ruled out the possibility of early elections in the state.
Addressing a marathon press conference that lasted for close to two hours, the most influential minister of the KCR cabinet said that elections would be conducted in 2023 as per the original schedule. "There is no need for Telangana to go for an early poll," he clarified. When asked about the recent statements of the BJP, he countered it saying that they were ready to dissolve the Assembly if the BJP announced dates for early elections.
On the rift between the TRS government and the Raj Bhavan, KTR hastened to clarify that they had absolutely no issues with the governor.
The TRS working president predicted that the BJP would suffer humiliating defeats in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. About the contentious issue of tribal area cultivation (podu sagu), the minister said that the Centre could resolve the issue by amending the 'Recognition of Forest Rights' regulations.
He blamed the BJP-led NDA government for coming up with legislations that are detrimental to the interests of tribals in the country. The TRS would voice its opposition to such acts in the Parliament, he added.
