HYDERABAD : In response to the threat Raja Singh made to halt comedian Munawar Faruqui's performance in Hyderabad on August 20,2022, Hyderabad city police detained Raja Singh at his residence on Friday morning.

Raja Singh, a BJP lawmaker from Goshamahal, posted on Twitter, "Telangana Police have put me under house arrest as of right now. TRS has completely transformed itself into an anti-Hindu party. On August 12, 2022, Raja Singh threatened to set Munawar Faruqui's stand-up comedy show's venues on fire if it took place in Hyderabad. Moreover, he urged the police and the Telangana administration to prohibit Faruqui from performing in Hyderabad.

In a video message posted to social media on Thursday, Raja Singh asserted that if Munawar's event is permitted in Hyderabad, it will be openly opposed. If the organisers back them, they will suffer major consequences, he added. He threatened the theatre management, saying that the venue would be set on fire if his performance was held there.

Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui is all set to perform tomorrow in Hyderabad despite Raja Singh's warning. His show, which was scheduled to take place in Bangalore on August 19, was unfortunately postponed to next week as he missed his flight due to health issues.
